Key Players Shaping the Vo5G Ecosystem
The Vo5G industry is a collaborative effort involving several key categories of players. At the forefront are the Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) like AT&T, T-Mobile, Vodafone, and China Mobile, who are investing billions to build out their 5G SA networks and deploy the necessary core infrastructure. Supporting them are the network infrastructure vendors, including Ericsson, Nokia, Samsung, and Huawei. These companies provide the essential 5G core (5GC) components and the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) platforms required to manage and deliver Vo5G services. The device side of the equation is equally critical. Chipset manufacturers, with Qualcomm being a dominant player, are responsible for creating the 5G modems and processors that support Vo5G. Finally, smartphone and device manufacturers like Apple, Samsung, and Google must integrate this hardware and ensure their operating systems are optimized to take advantage of the new voice standard. The ability to offer guaranteed QoS through network slicing opens up lucrative opportunities in areas like mission-critical push-to-talk for public safety, reliable communication for remote industrial operations, and immersive communication experiences like AR-powered remote assistance. Without a robust Vo5G implementation, operators risk being relegated to simple data pipe providers, while over-the-top (OTT) players capture the value of next-generation communication services.
